The month of April is memorable for my family. It was in April 11, 18, 27 and 29 in 1987 when my whole family (along with some relatives) were baptized as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and became LDS or Mormons. I can't believe that it has been 25 years since then and we are celebrating our silver anniversary this month!
As LDS, studying the scriptures played an important role in my family. The four standard works such the Bible (Old Testament and New Testament), Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price and Doctrine and Covenants are such great blessings to my family. By reading the scriptures daily and regularly, we are better able to solve or handle our problems. However, finding time to read the scriptures is not always easy to follow, despite the constant counseling and reminders from church leaders.
Last March 5, 2012 during our Family Home Evening, we discussed the importance of family program of scripture study. We agreed that scriptures can help us and be a blessing to our family only if we will read them regularly and pray about them. So we decided to adopt a Family Scripture Study Program and we chose to start a simultaneous reading of the Book of Mormon as a family.
Each Monday, we assign a reading block starting from 1 Nephi, and respective family or individual (as in my case) will read one chapter a day wherever they may be and at any time that works for their family. Then on Monday nights, I host a Scripture Game Night during Family Home Evening. For one month, we already have Scripture Quiz bee (question and answer), Scripture Chase, Scripture Look For and Role Playing. I give the award points and prizes to winning team or individuals.

We are having fun during Scripture Game Night. The older kids are learning how to use their scriptures in answering actual concerns like what our driver Jojo has, while the younger kids are enjoying hearing the scriptures read aloud while they follow after. Scriptures are indeed an enjoyable experience for everyone!
