This was our lesson for today but since it is our Ward's Conference, the Sunday School class was handled by the Stake Leaders.
While preparing this lesson, I remember a picture of the vendors along the streets on our way to Sagada. The vendors sell everything from snacks,to vegetables to drinks and anticipate influx of passengers when the bus stops for a short restroom breaks. I could imagine the heavy burdens they carry on their shoulders.
I thought of another burden we all carry. The burden of sin.
"And the Savior himself said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
Jesus Christ's yoke requires covenants and obedience and sacrifice, but in return he removes the burdens of sin and uncertainty and darkness, burdens infinitely greater in scope and weight. He shows us where we are going and gives us the power to get there. (Ted Gibbons)
