CHRISTMAS. The season of giving. The season of love. The season of lights! And seeing dazzling lights (also called twinkle lights, holiday lights, mini lights and fairy lights ), in every homes, public/commercial buildings and Christmas trees is one of the things I look forward to seeing during the Christmas season.
The Manila Philippines Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(LDS) has an annual tradition of turning the lights on December 1. Last year, I got a Christmas card from Elder and Sister Edwards of the LDS Philippine Area Presidency which explains the symbolism behind this tradition.
"As we witnessed the turning on the Christmas lights surrounding the Manila Philippines Temple we thought of the light which Christ brings into our lives.
"Christ shall give thee light"
"The Lord is my light"
"He is the light and the life of the world"
"In me shall all mankind have light"
"His word is a light unto our path"
Love, prayer and temples also bring light into our lives. "Shepherds", "angels",and "wise men" bring light into our lives. We are blessed to walk in the light of His love. We are grateful for the light you bring into our lives and the Light we all follow"
And reading from the book Holy Temples by Boyd K.Packer ( a gift from Elder Joel Fred Wright and his wife Jacque when they conclude their assignment last August) I found the quote so fitting for this picture I have taken.
("The house of the Lord, bathed in light, standing out in the darkness, become as symbolic of the power and inspiration of the gospel of Jesus Christ standing as a beacon in a world that sinks ever further into spiritual darkness".)
