Kaangkan Festival

I was able to attend the Ribbon Cutting and the opening of the Marikina City Family History Center, a joint project of the Church and the City of Marikina, which coincided with the Kaangkan Festival or Festival of Clans celebration. From their program, I learned that the festival is virtually a family reunion of Marikeños from all over the country and those based overseas as well. One of the purposes of the festival is to provide an opportunity for the present generation to get to know their ancestors and acquaint themselves with fellow clan members. With this year's theme Ka-Angkan Ko Mabubuting Tao, having a way to do genealogical research with the microfilm readers provided by the Church in the Center, clan members will be able to learn more about their ancestors and would confirm that they are indeed good people. I am glad I am part of this joint project.
